AmSafe Bridport has a great opportunity for an ambitious sales professional to join our Airframes business unit as Head of Americas. The role will be UK based from our head office in Bridport Dorset, with the opportunity for extensive travel in the region.

AmSafe is a worldwide market leader for cargo restraints and protection systems in aviation and defence; we design, develop & manufacture world-class engineered textile solutions for the safety & securement needs of the global aerospace and defence industries.

Working with major aircraft manufacturers, our products include airframe safety systems, aircraft safety equipment, cargo restraint solutions and RPG protection.

We have manufacturing, operational and service facilities in the UK, North America and Sri Lanka.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Airframes Business Unit Manager and Buena Park General Manager to create and implement a strategy for growth in the Airframes Business Unit.

The role will involve creating, building and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers and identifying new business opportunities with both OEM and Defence customers. Leading profitable new business generation in the region and develop an effective strategy that leads to a steady pipeline of prospects that ultimately leads to profitable new business.

The successful candidate will also work closely with a small sales and customer support team ensuring both teams are aligned in achieving growth strategies by developing a challenging environment that encourages personal growth and teamwork.

This role would suit a highly ambitious and driven individual who is looking to develop their skills and knowledge and ultimately to become a part of the AmSafe succession plan and progress their career. The role will be office based in Bridport, Dorset, with potential for a hybrid working arrangement, and will offer the opportunity for extensive business travel.

Job Purpose

To lead the sales function for North America & South America, ensuring targets for sales, margin and growth are achieved. To achieve New Business through the continued development of the Sales and Customer Support teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working closely with the Business Unit Managers and Anaheim General Manager to create and implement a strategy for growth in both the Airframes and Cargo areas of the business.
  • Ensure Key Performance Indicators and annual targets relating to sales, order intake, pricing, margins, productivity and new business growth are met.
  • Create build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers and identify new business opportunities with both OEM and Aftermarket customers.
  • Work closely with a small sales and customer support team ensuring both teams are aligned in achieving our growth strategies by developing a challenging environment that encourages personal growth and teamwork.
  • Create, negotiate and close commercial agreements, determining bid and proposal strategies, whilst ensuring bids are approved in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • To provide input to management reports, forecasts, budgeting and longer-term planning.
  • Perform all other duties as required, directed, or needed to achieve business goals.
Knowledge and Skills
  • A degree standard of education is desirable but may be offset by relevant experience. Further education in a business related subject is desirable.
  • Experience in an aerospace sales & marketing / business development environment, demonstrating commercial awareness, negotiation skills and people management is essential.
  • Experience in dealing with major aircraft OEM’s and Airlines at a high level.
  • A proven track record of developing teams through support, encouragement and mutual respect to generate motivation, drive and focus.
  • Experience of Cargo and Airframes restraint and safety equipment sales for the commercial and defense aerospace markets would be advantageous.
  • Has a positive attitude that engenders dynamic team-working, fosters a culture of mutual trust, co-operation and high motivation and provides direction when identifying individual objectives and accountabilities in support of the business goals and our values.
  • Has a positive open and honest communication style which builds rapport and good working relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • A valid driving license and a willingness to travel overseas are also required.
Key Result Areas

Grow the business value of the OEM and Aftermarket sectors through:

  • Development and delivery of growth strategies for each of the existing customer accounts that will increase sales, gross margin and profitability.
  • Application of dynamic pricing strategies that will increase margin and productivity within existing customers and support the acquisition of new business.
  • Expansion of the existing customer base through entry into new markets, winning and introducing profitable new business that meets strategic business objectives.
